I'm a Costa Rican Visual Journalist living and working in Hong Kong Seoul, with a passion for design, art and architecture.
Before joining The New York Times in Seoul, I worked in Hong Kong as Graphics Journalist for Bloomberg and Senior Graphics Editor at South China Morning Post, leading the digital graphics production, multimedia special features, in-house applications and presenting new ways of storytelling (sometimes I worked on their print version too). Previous to that, I worked as a Senior Graphics Editor for La Nación, main newspaper in Costa Rica, and as a Visual Designer at Pre-Columbian Gold Museum in San José.
In 2019 I developed multiple visual stories covering the Hong Kong Protests, projects that later won gold medals at Malofiej, Webby Awards, Sigma Delta Chi Award, ADG Laus 2020 and Online Journalism Awards, among others. I was also able to work on one of the first global graphic coverages related to the Covid-19 pandemic, in early December.
My work has been recognised with more than 130 different awards including Online Journalism Awards, WAN-IFRA, Malofiej, SND, Sigma, Webby Awards, Information is Beautiful Awards to name a few. Some of my work can be found in books from Japan, United States and Spain alongside a few exhibitions for private galleries in Europe.
You can find me on Instagram, Twitter, Dribbble, GitHub, Tumblr, LinkedIn and you can get in touch via email.
